Ronnie Taylor was chosen Citizen of the Year. The award was presented during the Queen Pageant Saturday evening. He is a lifelong resident of Orleans. He serves as Orange County Service Officer. He is a member of the Orleans American Legion Warren Brock Post #69. He volunteers his time to the Legion Honor Guard. He is past Dogwood Festival Chairman and helps organize the carnival. Ronnie will ride in Saturday's parade courtesy of the Orleans Chamber of Commerce.

The location for viewing the Photo Contest entries has changed. They are now on display at Dogwood Realty on the square.

Winners of the Jr. Miss Dogwood Festival Pageant were Miss Congeniality Jennifer Cornett, Princesses McKayla Padgett, Layken Ray, Keisha Morgran and Queen Andrea Buttrum.
 
Natasha Carr was crowned 2008 Dogwood Festival Queen. Princesses are Emily Grace, Meghan Wilson and Jennifer Anderson. Miss Congeniality was Courtney Beasley.

Window Contest Winners PDF Print E-mail

Orleans - Event organizer Jill Morgan announced the winners of the Window Decorating contest Thursday evening. Out of town judges carefully considered the entries and the results are 1st place: Flower Cottage, 2nd place: Orleans Flower Shop, 3rd Place: Dogwood Realty, Most Original: J&S Sportswear, Best Use of Theme: Hometown Carpet, Chairman's Choice: Maple Street Restaurant.
 
The window decorating contest was revived this year in honor of the Dogwood Festival's 40th anniversary. "I think things went very well...hope we can get more folks involved next year!" said Jill Morgan. Ribbons were awarded to all winners and windows may be seen by touring Maple Street/Highway 37.
 
A huge thank you to Jill and judges Alma Baker, Cheri Joslin and Susie Kern. Another thank you to Maple St. Restaurant for providing dinner to our judges!
