This year marks the 40th celebration of the Orleans Dogwood Festival. As part of the 2008 celebration, the festival committee would like to revive a popular event from the earlier years of the Dogwood Festival, the Window Display Contest. All local businesses are encouraged to decorate their display windows during festival week (April 25-May 4) to help promote the festival and this year’s theme, “40 Years of Dogwood History & Tradition.”

Community churches, clubs, and other non-profit organizations might also participate in the window displays by “adopting” windows and decorating those to enhance the overall beauty of the community and promote the dogwood theme.

The name of the business or group responsible for the window display must be posted in the decorated window for judges’ use. Ribbons will be presented for first, second, and third places. In addition, special ribbons will be awarded for those windows judged as the Most Original, Best Representation of Festival Theme, and Chairman’s Choice.

Completed entry forms must be received by Monday, April 21. Displays should be ready by Wednesday, April 23. Judging will take place on Thursday, April 24.
